Sergey Smbatyan, artistic director and chief conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, will continue conducting the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Lawyer Yervand Varosyan on Thursday informed about this on Facebook.

"Due to recent developments, many people are already aware that Maestro Sergey Smbatyan is also the chief conductor of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

"Last summer, after the launching of criminal proceedings against Sergey Smbatyan, his arrest, the management of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra had decided to suspend the implementation of the contract signed with the Maestro. Information about this was disseminated also in the press.

"We are happy to inform that today we have received an official notification that by the decision of the board of directors of the orchestra, Sergey Smbatyan's tenure will be restored and he will continue cooperation with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra as chief conductor," Varosyan added.
