The elements are in place to ensure a sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said Henri Duquenne, Spokesperson of the European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar.

“We are in constant contact with both sides and believe that following several years of negotiations and discussions between the sides, notably also at the highest level facilitated by [European Council] President [Charles] Michel, the elements are in place to ensure a sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Duquenne stated.

According to him, the EU welcomes Yerevan and Baku’s continuous exchanges of draft texts on the matter.

The spokesperson of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus added that Toivo Klaar will continue his regional visits to advance the peace agenda.
