The revolution [in 2018] was for us to talk about all these issues. Before the revolution, you could not go and ask such questions to the head of the country. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during his press conference Tuesday—and referring to the remark that according to international reports, there is an increase in corruption crimes in Armenia, only opposition figures are targeted, etc.

"International reports are also for us to be able to see ourselves from the side. All those reports are being discussed in the government, the Security Council, we are trying to understand. I was struck by the claim that only ex-officials [of Armenia] are being targeted in the illegal property confiscation process. Those with illegal properties are targeted in the process. (…). It is important to record that lawsuits—amounting to $1.3 billion—involving illegal property are pending in the [Armenian] courts today in cases of confiscation of illegal property. It is a result of the revolution," he said.

Regarding the Armenian captives in Azerbaijan, Pashinyan said that the intensity of that topic has not decreased. "Until this issue is resolved, the intensity around this topic cannot decrease," he said.

When asked if the Armenian government is going to use brute force against the movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Diocese of Tavush of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Pashinyan responded as follows, in part: "Is someone going to do something illegal that the topic of brute force is being brought up."

The Armenian premier spoke also about the demands for his resignation.

"I have resigned several times. It is not serious that the Prime Minister is constantly resigning. As for the political processes in Armenia, they can happen. There is one important thing in those processes that will never be shaken: the decisive importance of the people's voice can never be degraded," Pashinyan said.
