Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan considers the 44-day war in 2020 his biggest failure. Pashinyan stated this during his press conference Tuesday.

"It is important to understand why it was not possible to avoid the 44-day war, which is related to today's situation. And why does the government today talk about avoiding war and considers it possible, whereas then justifies that it is not possible?" Pashinyan added.

According to him, the situation with Nagorno-Karabakh was deadlocked as of 2018.

"It should have been recorded that that territory is regulated as much by Nagorno-Karabakh as by Azerbaijan, as a result of this, creation of guarantees for the return of Azerbaijanis who left Nagorno-Karabakh. Indefinite postponement of the decision on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. Even after doing all this, the war remained inevitable," he declared.

Touching upon his successes, Pashinyan said that the biggest success is that despite all this, Armenia and its people have overcome the social psychology of outpost.

"It creates very important foundations for the permanence of Armenia's statehood, which is the key idea of the national security strategy adopted in 2019. Having passed through these disasters, we have come and reached a place where we now see a horizon, a perspective. The prevailing feeling for me as the Prime Minister of Armenia was the feeling of impasse. Today, I consider the sense of impasse overcome, which is thanks to the border delimitation [with Azerbaijan]," Pashinyan stressed.

The premier added that the Armenians’ search for the homeland should be stopped, it has been found, and it is the Republic of Armenia.
