After a long break, one of the treasures of Armenian and world fine art, the famous work “Salome” by Vardges Sureniants, the founder of national historical painting, returns to the exhibition of the National Gallery of Armenia, the Gallery has informed…

This masterpiece, brought from Rome to Yerevan in 1929, has always been displayed in the National Gallery of Armenia. In 2019, “Salome” was moved to the Restoration and Conservation Department of the National Gallery for full restoration. The comprehensive restoration, which lasted four years, returned former appearance and magnificence of “Salome,” one of the most impressive and imposing paintings of Vardges Sureniants.

Within the scope of the project “A Story of a Restored Exhibit,” it will soon be presented to the public with a one-work exhibition.

This highly valuable artwork is considered as one of the best works in world fine art dedicated to Salome.
