The Kremlin insists that contacts between Russian and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy are possible only in Moscow, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said during a press briefing Monday.
"Zelenskyy proposes contacts, Putin has said that they are possible in Moscow. This position remains our position," Peskov said while answering the question of whether the Kremlin was considering the possibility of holding a meeting of the two presidents in neutral territory.
The Kremlin spokesperson said Moscow's position on this matter was "quite consistent."
"We [i.e. Russia] maintain our openness to negotiations. Work is being carried out in working groups. We welcome this and are ready to continue this work in the future as well for the benefit of a settlement in Ukraine," Peskov added.
