Tehran is considering diplomatic opportunities to normalize tense relations with the US, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei announced, according to Western media.

"Tehran hopes to achieve results in the coming days," Baqaei added

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had announced an interview with CNN on Sunday that Tehran and Washington were capable of negotiating and reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

According to the Iranian FM, several friendly countries in the Middle East are acting as mediators and are trying to restore mutual trust between the two parties.

"A meaningful negotiation should be based on trust and unfortunately we have lost our trust in the United States as a negotiating partner. We need to overcome this mistrust," Araghchi had stressed.

At the same time, he stated that there are "certain parties" who would like to drag the US into this conflict for their own benefits, but stressed that he considers US President Donald Trump "wise enough to make a correct decision."
