The workday of May 4 this year in Armenia will be moved to April 18, which is a Saturday. The respective draft decision submitted by the Prime Minister's Office was adopted during Thursday’s government cabinet session.

The reason for this decision is the 8th Summit of the European Political Community (EPC) to be held in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, in May.

"Considering the importance of the event and the unprecedented level of participation for Armenia, a need has arisen to move the workday of May 4 [this year] in order to effectively organize the transport traffic of Yerevan city," the aforesaid decision states in its explanation.

The aforementioned event is expected to bring together about 50 high-ranking delegations at the level of heads of states or organizations.

A contract for the organizing and holding of the 8th Summit of the EPC has been signed—through a procurement procedure—for 1,656,295,200 drams, of which 656,295,200 thousand drams will be allocated from the Armenian government's 2026 reserve fund.
