Starlink, the satellite division of Elon Musk's SpaceX, warned on Saturday of "reduced quality of service" as Earth undergoes the strongest solar-induced geomagnetic storm in two decades.

Starlink owns about 60 percent of the roughly 7,500 satellites orbiting the Earth and is the dominant player in satellite internet.

Musk also said on his microblogging site at X that Starlink satellites are under a lot of pressure due to the geomagnetic storm.

Starlink's thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit use inter-satellite laser links to transmit data to each other in space at the speed of light, allowing the network to provide internet coverage around the world.
