France announced on Tuesday that it has recalled its French ambassador to Azerbaijan for consultations, accusing Baku of actions that harm bilateral relations, according to a statement of the French foreign ministry, AFP reported.

French President Emmanuel Macron received Ambassador Anne Boillon in Paris to discuss the matter, the foreign ministry said in a statement, accusing Azerbaijan of continuing "in recent months unilateral actions damaging to the relationship between our two countries."

Recently, Azerbaijan has repeatedly accused France, at the same time noting the support of Paris to Armenia.

Last December, Baku declared two French diplomats persona non grata, and Paris gave a mirror response.
